Standard:
IEC 60335-2-3 ‘Household and similar electrical appliances – Safety – Part 2-3: Particular requirements for electric irons clause 21.101
Application:
It is used to test the mechanical strength of the iron in the normal operating conditions and with rated input power. Household Appliance Test Equipment
The iron is operated under normal operation at rated power input and, except for cordless irons, the soleplate temperature is maintained under these conditions throughout the test.
Feature:
The iron is then suspended by its handle with the soleplate in the horizontal position. It is dropped from a height of 40 mm onto a rigidly supported steel plate having a thickness of at least 15 mm and a mass of at least 15 kg. The test is carried out 1 000 times at a rate not exceeding 20 drops per min.
The test is conducted so that the iron rests on the steel plate for approximately 15 % of the time.
